Lamprey Health Care to Relocate Nashua Center in 2011

Lamprey Health Care and Home Health & Hospice Care Announce Move of Offices

Home Health & Hospice Care and Lamprey Health Care announce an agreement that will benefit the Greater Nashua Community by providing enhanced access to those served by each organization.  The agreement will provide an opportunity for both agencies to meet the community’s needs by allowing Lamprey Health Care to expand its Nashua Center and Home Health & Hospice Care to relocate to Merrimack.

The sale and expansion plans provide a solution for both non-profits, and benefits the patients and communities served by both agencies.  Lamprey Health Care, currently located at 10 Prospect Street in Nashua, has entered into an agreement to purchase Home Health & Hospice Care’s building at 22 Prospect Street, Nashua.   In addition, Home Health & Hospice Care has formalized an agreement to purchase a building at 7 Executive Park Drive, Merrimack.

Lamprey Health Care was awarded a $2.15 million American Recovery & Reinvestment Act (ARRA) Grant by the Department of Health & Human Services (HHS) to support this facility project, with the goal of increasing patient access to affordable health care.

Total Federal Grants received for Lamprey Health Care’s Nashua relocation project represent approximately 59% of the total project being funded through total federal dollars, with the remaining 41% funded by private dollars.

The Nashua Area Health Center, a Center for Lamprey Health Care, has been serving the medically underserved in the Greater Nashua Area since 2000.  In 2009 alone, the Nashua Center experienced over a 20% increase in demand for services, and has outgrown its capacity to meet the increased needs of the community and the uninsured.   By moving to the Home Health & Hospice Care building, Lamprey Health Care will be able to expand space and access for services such as primary health care, OB/GYN, family planning, substance abuse prevention, diabetes education, nutrition counseling, behavioral health and care coordination, as well as staff and community health education.

“We are committed to increasing access to affordable health care for all individuals.  Moving our current facility to the Home Health & Hospice Care building is going to allow our Nashua Center to expand our capacity to meet the growth in demand, especially from the uninsured,” states Lamprey Health Care’s CEO, Ann H. Peters.  “It’s been wonderful to develop a plan that supports both organizations’ ability to serve the Nashua Community.  In addition, Southern New Hampshire Medical Center’s assistance and support through the planning process has been invaluable, and further strengthens the partnership between three non-profits working together to provide a solution to meet the needs of the community.”

Home Health & Hospice Care will bring together the staff from the Nashua and Merrimack offices creating a clinical hub.  In this new location the community will benefit from blood pressure, foot care, and flu vaccine clinics along with Alzheimer’s and Bereavement support groups.  Additionally, the new site offers a more central location to the 33 communities served, enhancing timely patient care.

"The creation of a clinical hub for Home Health & Hospice Care will be very positive for the communities we serve,” states Karen Baranowski, President and CEO.  “Additionally it will allow us to bring our clinicians together under one roof which in and of itself will create operational efficiencies and enhance communication.”

The new building will be funded by the sale of the Prospect Street, Nashua building,  the sale of the Continental Blvd. Merrimack building and proceeds from a small capital campaign that has generated donations to fund the refurbishment of the Community Hospice House and the development of this new clinical hub.

Lamprey Health Care closed on the property on Friday, November 19, 2010 and will be moved into the building in November 2011.
