Lamprey Health Care broke ground today on the future home of it’s Nashua Center, which will reside at the former Home Health & Hospice Care building at 22 Prospect Street. Lamprey Health Care experienced a 20% increase in demand for services during the economic recession, outgrowing its capacity to meet the needs of the community and the uninsured. Lamprey Health Care’s Nashua Center in currently located in 8,500 square feet at 10 Prospect Street in the annex of Southern New Hampshire Medical Center.
In 2009, Lamprey Health Care was awarded a $2.15 million American Recovery & Reinvestment Act (ARRA) Grant by the Department of Health & Human Services (HHS) to support a facility project that will increase patient access to affordable health care. Total Federal Grants received for Lamprey Health Care’s Nashua relocation project represent approximately 59% of the total project. The remaining 41% is funded by a loan from TD Bank, funds to be raised through a capital campaign, and a Community Benefit grant from Southern New Hampshire Medical Center.
By moving to the Home Health & Hospice Care building, Lamprey Health Care will be able to expand space and access for primary health services, including prenatal and pediatric care services. In addition to primary care services, Lamprey Health Care also provides substance abuse counseling, diabetes education, nutrition counseling, family planning behavioral health services, health education and care coordination.
With this expansion, Lamprey Health Care will able to add medical staff to meet the growth in demand, as well as a 75% increase in clinical space capacity affording them the opportunity to serve over 2,000 additional patients. The new facility will also provide its patients with an expanded waiting room, community education rooms, over 21 exam rooms and expanded hours.
The architect & construction management firms have been selected for this relocation and expansion project. They are Dennis Mires, P.A., The Architects, located out of Manchester, New Hampshire, and North Branch Construction located out of Concord, New Hampshire.
