Primary Care for the Whole Family
Lamprey Health Care takes the family practice approach to medical care and focuses on prevention, health education and the health and wellbeing of the family as a whole. Our goal is to keep you and your family healthy.
Most of our physicians are family physicians - board certified in the family practice specialty which provides comprehensive care to individuals of all ages. This specialty recognizes the importance of the relationship that the family physician has with the patient and their family for life-long good health.
Our family physicians have studied in six broad areas of medicine: pediatrics, surgery, internal medicine, obstetrics and gynecology, psychiatry and community medicine. Most of family physicians provide prenatal and obstetrical care.

Lamprey Health Care physicians are members of the Exeter Hospital medical staff and will deliver your baby at the Exeter Hospital Family Center. The birthing room at the hospital offers a private, homelike environment to experience childbirth.
Diabetes Care Management
Our goal is to help our patients best control their diabetes. Why? In the short run, you will feel better, stay healthy, have more energy and prevent the symptoms of high blood sugar. In the long run, you will lower your chances of having diabetes problems such as eye disease, kidney disease and nerve damage. You will enjoy a better quality of life.
We aspire to reduce the risks of diabetes through good control of the disease. Our diabetes educators and clinical team follow a "best practice" case management program to ensure the most thorough care of our diabetic patients. We ask that you follow their instructions to control your blood sugar level to help you feel better.
Chronic Disease Management
Whether it's asthma, diabetes or heart disease, our clinical team works hard to best manage your condition for your improved health. Our doctors work as a team with our nurse practitioners, nurses and community health workers to ensure that you are getting excellent care management.
Nutrition Education
We have registered dieticians on staff to provide nutritional assessments and guidance. The dieticians focus on working with every one of our diabetic and prenatal patients, but also are available to any of our patients in need of nutritional education.
Women's Wellness & BCCP
Through a grant from the State of New Hampshire, we are able to provide potentially life-saving screenings to eligible women for free. Our Breast and Cervical Cancer Screening Program allows income-eligible, uninsured women to get pap tests, clinical breast exams and mammograms at no charge. Because early detection saves lives, we actively seek out women in the community who are not able to follow the recommended screening guidelines, perhaps for financial reasons. We then enroll them in this program to receive the free services. For more information and eligibility guidelines, call our BCCP coordinator at 603-659-3106.
For the best protection, we urge our patients to combine an annual mammogram test with an annual breast exam and monthly self-exams. The American Cancer Society recommends that these examinations and screenings be done every year for all women age 40 and over.
On-site Lab Services
For the convenience of our patients, we have a Quest Diagnostics technician onsite to provide our patients with lab services.
Prescription Assistance
If you are uninsured and need a prescription for an illness, we will try to assist with your medication needs whenever possible by giving you samples that have been given to us from pharmaceutical companies. Our supplies are usually limited, but we will do our best to accommodate your needs.
If you have ongoing medication needs for a chronic condition, you may be eligible for free prescriptions through our Pharmacy Assistance Program. If you are financially eligible, our staff will work to enroll you in programs where drug manufacturers provide you with free prescriptions. It takes four to six weeks to be enrolled and renewal applications are required every three months.
In-Office Procedures
Our providers are able to perform minor procedures within the office setting for the convenience of our patients. Sigmoidoscopy, colposcopy, cryosurgery and sutures are just some of the procedures done routinely in the office.
HIV/AIDS Testing & Counseling
Concerned patients can receive confidential HIV/AIDS testing within our office. Our community health workers are here to support and counsel you through this apprehensive and difficult time. Please talk with one of our community health workers if you are concerned and wish to be tested.
Referrals to Specialists
To ensure that your health care costs will be covered, you should review and follow your insurance plan rules regarding referrals. These plans generally require that referrals be made by your primary care provider. Whenever you or a member of your family needs medical attention, you should contact the primary care provider first. Your provider will need to give you a referral to see a specialist.
Exeter Hospital
Since our beginning in 1971, we have enjoyed a close affiliation with Exeter Hospital, a comprehensive, 100-bed acute hospital. Exeter Hospital provides 24-hour emergency care, state-of-the-art diagnostic resources and surgical facilities, and a broad spectrum of medical specialties. Our physicians are active members of Exeter Hospital's medical staff, and several have served in leadership positions at the hospital.
