Pledges Additional $100,000 Over Next Four Years

Funding will allow Lamprey Health Care to continue to provide preventative care in community settings.

Manchester, N.H. — AmeriHealth Caritas New Hampshire, a managed care organization serving New Hampshire Medicaid enrollees and part of the AmeriHealth Caritas Family of Companies, is teaming up with Lamprey Health Care in its initiative to take health services on the road. The Medicaid plan recently contributed $25,000 to Lamprey in support of its Mobile Health Service Van and has pledged an additional $25,000 each year for the next four years to continue its support.

“When we talk about health care in terms of accessibility, barriers to transportation and health care deserts play a big role in whether someone can get to a brick-and-motor doctor’s office,” said AmeriHealth Caritas New Hampshire Market President Bill Keena. “Lamprey has been able to erase those barriers by bringing health care services directly to the people, meeting them where they are.”

Lamprey Health Care’s Mobile Health Service Van brings critical health services to the community so individuals can get connected to primary care and get the preventative services they need. The van currently has a weekly presence in Nashua, Deerfield and Milford, where locals can “drop-in” without an appointment. The van also provides a gateway for members of the community to access other Lamprey Health Care services, including 24-hours nurse triage, behavioral health, prenatal care, psychiatry and substance misuse treatment.

“Lamprey Health Care is grateful to be working with Amerihealth Caritas NH, the sponsor of our mobile health unit.” Added Greg White, Lamprey Health Care’s Co-CEO.  “By deploying Mobile Health Services, we are more able to meet people’s needs across the region by bringing the breadth of our services out of our buildings and into the community. This allows us to meet people where they are, which in some cases is a more optimal way for folks to access care and to navigate the health system. Amerihealth understands how important this is and we thank them for their support!”

As part of AmeriHealth Caritas New Hampshire’s mission to build healthy communities, the plan is dedicated to supporting local and statewide efforts to break down barriers to health care and address the social determinants of health that impact those living in the Granite state.
